Ruth has locked up the homerun crown, currently at 39 and more than double anyone else in the league. His .389 average is 30 points ahead of Russ Wrighstone's second best .359. In the RBI department, Ruth has 95 followed by Tommy Griffth with 85. Ruth flirted with the Triple Crown last season, but this could be his best chance yet!

Blackwater, KY (WBSP): Alto continued their tear today, closing out back-to-back series sweeps of the Blackwater Outlaw, making it 16 wins in a row and improving to 61-30 on the seaon. Over the 6 games, the Alto pitching held Babe Ruth's bat at bay, limiting him to only 1 RBI and no homeruns, including an 0-9 draught during the Blackwater homestand. [boxscore]

Boston, MA (WBSP): The Alto Wild Mustangs extended their win streak to 10 games, surging 6.5 games ahead of Texas in the Doubleday League. Sad Sam Jones improved to 15-2, picking up the complete game and hitting a homerun. Alto's offense spread out 11 hits across 8 batters; Edd Roush batted 3 for 5 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored, improving his average to .340. [boxscore]

Alto, NM (WBSP): The Doubledays defeated the Knickerbockers 9-4, taking a 2-1 series lead in the Midsummer Classic. Blackwater's Babe Ruth was named MVP of the game, playing a key component of each run-scoring innin for the Doubledays. After Ruth's solo shot in the first, the Doubledays never looked back. Ruth reach base in 4 of 5 plate appearances, including an intentional walk in a 3-run, 2nd-inning rally. Tornado Ray Powell added a 3-run shot 4th. The Doubledays got the pitching they needed from Sad Sam Jones and Red Faber. Jones opened the game with 3 no-hit innings. Faber got in trouble fast after entering the 4th inning: after giving up a run and loading the bases, Jones beaned Ray Grimes to give up run number 2. But Jones followed with clutch pitching, getting Roger Peckinpaugh and Tris Speaker to fly out and staunch the bleeding. Blackwater's Babe Ruth and Williston's Patsy Gharrity led all players in the Classic voting, the only 2 players selected unanimously. Ruth is currently sitting in Triple Crown position leading the Doubleday League with a .388 average, 26 homeruns, and 70 RBIs. Gharrity has posted a .361 average with 9 homerune and 57 RBIs, leading Williston to the top of the Knickerbocker League.

Max Carey, Heninie Groh, Patsy Gharrity, and Tris Speaker have fueled the most dangerous batting lineup in the league, topping the league with a team batting average of .326 and 6.7 runs per game.
